Ave Crux, Spes Unica
Founded in 1837 by Blessed Basil Moreau, the Congregation of Holy Cross is anchored in its charism as Educators in the Faith and its spirituality, Ave Crux, Spes Unica — Hail the Cross, Our Only Hope.
We are guided by zeal: the burning desire to make God known, loved and served. This is the particular gift the Holy Spirit gave the Congregation through our founder, in order to build up the Church and respond to the needs of the world.
Seeking understanding through the integration of faith and reason. We seek to form the minds of young people in our institutions and in parish ministry, preparing good citizens of the world and of the Kingdom of God.
Walking side by side with those we minister to, we help them discern their personal vocation in service to the Church and the world, with the zeal to serve, build faith and give hope.

“Even though we base our philosophy course on data of faith, no one needs fear that we shall confine our teaching within narrow and unscientific boundaries. No, we wish to accept science without prejudice and in a manner adapted to the needs of our times.”— Blessed Basil Moreau, C.S.C.
