Day 3 of Chapter Business
The spirit of the chapter is gathering momentum as the Brothers of Holy Cross, Province of West Africa embarked on the third day of chapter business. The day began with Morning Prayer and Mass, led by Fr. Peter Mayanja, C.S.C., Provincial Superior of the Province of East Africa. The chapter then settled in with its moderators, Rev. Fr. Joseph Kwame Blay, OFM Conv., and Br. Paul Mensah, C.S.C., taking charge of the business. In attendance were the Superior General, Br. Paul Bednarczyk, C.S.C., and the Third General Assistant, Fr. Andrew Gawrych, C.S.C. The esteemed brothers from the Province of East Africa, Fr. Peter Mayanja CSC, Bro. John Bailanda, C.S.C., and Fr. Peter Qorro, C.S.C., were also present and participated in the deliberations. Five presentations were made during the day. The first document to be laid for deliberation was the Provincial Steward’s report, given by Br. William Tawiah, C.S.C. This was followed by a plenary session where the Brothers deliberated on the Vocation and Formation Position Paper presented by Br. Francisco Gillette, C.S.C. The other position paper on Religious and Community Life, was presented by Br. Nicholas Arthur, C.S.C., was also discussed. After this, the chapter moved into group discussions and reported back to the plenary assembly. Due to time constraints, the second set of presentations, including the Mission and Ministry position paper presented by Br. Stephen Aidoo, C.S.C., and the Finance report presented by the Provincial Steward, Br. William Tawiah, C.S.C., were not discussed. The Chapter Steering Committee, comprising Fr. Joseph Kwame Blay, OFM Conv., the Moderator; Br. Paul Mensah, the Vice Moderator; Br. John Badu Affum, the Provincial Superior; Br. Kenneth Good, Chairman of the Governance Committee; Br. William Tawiah, Chairman of the Finance Committee; Br. Francisco Gillette, Chairman of the Vocation/Formation Committee; Br. Steven Aidoo, Chairman of the Mission and Ministry Committee; Br. Nicholas Arthur, Chairman of the Religious Life and Community Life Committee; and Br. Kenneth Kunditani, Chairman of the Province Chapter Planning Committee, made the decision to have the discussion and presentation done the next day.
